Niiiiiice—especially his very idiosyncratic head shape which always gets overshadowed by the teeth. (Did you watch Live Aid? Your reference comes from that concert, I believe, where Queen blew everyone else out of the water. I watched it live on MTV that day with a two-month-old who is now twenty-six….yikes!)
Not sure where the ref pic were from. I got several via google obviously from the same performance, with the white tank top and armband. I actually combined two references, as I wanted to do something a little different with the mouth than one was showing.
Such an obscure personality (at this point) to do a caricature of! Awesome!! The Creative Director at my first job out of college made a set of buck teeth from foamcore and would impersonate Mr. Mercury to the delight of us all. Actually all he did was the teeth lick – which, if you were paying attention to Freddy as he performed live, it happened often and was a necessity!! I hadn’t thought about that in years! Thanks for reminding me!! I’m gonna email him and see if he still has the teeth!! LOL!!!
FANTASTIC!
Love it. Not only of the best performers in rock history, but one of the most alternately cool/goofy looking people ever photographed.
agreed on all points.
