In all three of his books, he manages to get Sherlock Holmes into Minnesota under various pretenses. I've only read the first one ("Sherlock Holmes and the Red Demon"), and it was pretty good. I'm certainly not the Holmes fan that you are, but it seemed to have an authentic feel to it. Maybe not "highly recommended", but at least worth a mention to a rabid Holmes fan.
