Stay Tooned Magazine Arrives!

st__first_cover_art_resize.jpg

Some time back I posted a “Sketch o’the Week” that was to be a header for an ongoing column by me in the new publication Stay Tooned!, produced by John Read. In said post I promised to let people know when the magazine was out and how to obtain a copy. Well… the publication’s first issue, after a few brief delays, is arriving in subscriber’s mailboxes now.

Stay Tooned! is “a quarterly publication devoted to the art and business of cartooning”. It “features profiles of professional cartoonists, plus articles and information of interest to working cartoonists, aspiring cartoonists, and fans of the art of cartooning!”- that according to it’s website. John tells me he hopes it will fill the void left when Cartoonist PROfiles stopped publication after 146 issues, followed all too closely by the passing of creator and publisher Jud Hurd.

Also according to it’s website, the inaugural issue contains articles and interviews with the following:

  • Marcus (Dennis the Menace) Hamilton
  • John (Snuffy Smith) Rose
  • Greg (The Buckets) Cravens
  • Scott (Prickly City) Stantis
  • Steve (The Times-Picayune) Kelley
  • Marshall (The Clarion-Ledger) Ramsey
  • Steven (Sonic X) Butler
  • John (The Toon Factory) Deaton
  • Rob (Funny Pages Productions) Corley

With columns by:

  • Tom (MAD Magazine) Richmond
  • Norm (Retail) Feuti
  • R.C. (Rants & Raves) Harvey

My copy is still on the way, but several other cartoonists I know have gotten theirs and are very enthusiastic about the content. Stay Tooned! is only available by subscription, so visit the Stay Tooned! website to subscribe.

Thanks for the great publicity BEFORE you even see the magazine! Boy, do I hope you like it after this send-off. Steven Butler got his copy yesterday, and e-mailed me today to tell me he hadn’t known that you, too, were “in the magazine;” he says you guys just recently met in Orlando when he was down there doing caricatures. Small world, aye?
