Back when I was a kid drawing caricatures at Six Flags near Chicago, I was roomies with a bunch of other artists who were all into weightlifting. I did it with them all summer and found I really enjoyed the challenges and getting results.

I get bored with cardio and using light weights and doing high reps. I enjoy the work and challenge of building strength and size, and I like being able to see and feel a difference in my results. If you aren't enjoying what you are doing in the gym, you will quickly lose interest and give up.

Tom,

Enjoy your work and blog posts. Talk a bit about your decision to go the bodybuilding route with your workouts. Had you done some bodybuilding in the past and gotten away from it? Just curious why you went in that direction in response to that photo of yourself rather than just shaping and toning.
