Sketch O’The Day

In my frenzy to do errands and non-art related stuff I almost forgot the Sketch O’The Day! Today’s sketch is one of my favorite authors (which I’ve discussed here several times), Stephen King:

Not enormously successful. If you draw King, you want to make him menacing and moody, not with a goofy grin. He is inherently goofy looking, though (sorry, Steve). I am just finishing the audiobook The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower. I’m at the part I hate to read/listen to. Not because it’s bad… it just means the end of the ride is near. I intend to write a review of the series once I am done. I’ve listened to/read this series many times, and it’s one of my all time favorites.

I’ve tried to draw King many times, but you’ve nailed him twice! Once in “The Royal Paininthebums” (He’s commenting at Wally/Eli Cash’s book reading), and now in your Sketch O’ the Day!

Good eyes, Opsman. I’d forgotten about that cameo…

  3. Tom – I admire your commitment to regular blogposts – you’re a champion, though I have to ask: Where do you get the time to do sketch of the day?? I suppose your time management skills have been honed to a fine art over the years huh?

Jason- it might sound weird but doing the daily sketch is actually a timesaver. Accountability is a great motivator, and if I know there are people out in cyberland who are expecting a drawing every day I’ll get off my ass and do it… that gets me in front of the drawing board and makes it easier to get on to other work. 1/2 hour doing a daily sketch to get warmed up might save me 1 1/2 hours of screwing around on the internet or some other unimportant task before I get around to getting to work.

Of course, it might just be you, me and opsman who are paying attention.
