Smell Ya Later, NYC!
I should have posted the Dreaded Deadline Demon yesterday, as I spent a good portion of the day sitting in my NYC hotel room finishing the color for the “Halloween Party” poster image on my laptop. It takes a good deal longer for me to use the regular Wacom tablet as I am now so used to (and spoiled by) the Cintiq. Since I posted the penciled version some days back, here’s the final in color:

It’s nothing spectacular, just another job “in the can”. I don’t know if I felt bad about missing the Empire State Building tour and walking about New York with Anna and the kids, or if I felt lucky sitting in the air conditioned hotel instead of the 100 degree oven that was Manhattan yesterday. I know one thing I did not miss about a sweltering summer day walking around the Big Apple: the stench. Let me tell you, every breath you inhale on a day like that in New York City is an adventure. You would think that the air would eventually reach a saturation point with regard to offensive odors, but “Eau d’été New York” is the gift that keeps on giving. Just when you think it can’t get any worse you walk through a cloud of noxious fume that reaches new heights.
Back home now in pleasantly cool and sweet smelling Minnesota. Our trip was a lot of fun, especially the “Harry, Carrie and Garp” event last night. I’ll post a review of that tomorrow.

I still can’t get over how amazing the color looks when finished. I have a lot of reading up to do.
