Me and my booth babe The Lovely Anna

Another SDCC in the books. Had a great time as always. Many thanks to all the people that came up to say hello and chat, and especially those who commissioned a caricature or sketch cover or bought some of my garbage.

One of the highlights for me was once again being called up on stage to do a little drawing game during the “Quick Draw” show on Saturday. Host Mark Evanier has had me do that for a few years running and as humbling as it is to try and keep up with Sergio Aragonès and Scott Shaw! (as well as this year’s guest artist Maria Scrivan) it’s also a lot of fun. This year Mark brought up three MAD artists to play the “Top Half/Bottom Half” game- myself, MAD art director and longtime artist Sam Viviano and Spy vs. Spy writer/artist Peter Kuper. We got some laughs. Thanks, Mark!

Here are some other highlights:

The MAD section of the DC Comics exhibit. I did a signing here and a drawing demo on Thursday.

Promoting some upcoming releases

The newly redesigned National Cartoonists Society booth, design and graphics by Steve McGarry

The annual MAD about MAD panel

Talking about the new Superman book coming out in October

This guy is a REAL Al Jaffee fan. His Jaffee tattoo is right out where everyone can see it… unlike mine

More MAD tattoos!

Some of the commissions I did over the weekend:

See you next year, San Diego!
