200+ Amazon Reviews for TMAoC!

February 7th, 2017 | Posted in General

Just a few days ago my book The Mad Art of Caricature hit 200 reviews (actually 201 now) on Amazon. Its been on Amazon for about 5 years so that might not seem like a lot, but getting over 200 reviews is pretty great.

The overwhelming majority are 4 or 5 stars and very complimentary, which is a lot better than “this sucked”. Of course, if you have a book on Amazon and want a good laugh just read some of the oddball negative reviews your book gets. Some of them are real head scratchers. Here are three negative reviews of my book:

Shannon G: 2 stars– “Barely Helpful” (Maybe she thought it was in Portugese)

Marjorie Hirschinger: 1 star– “Not my style” (That’s like rating a Greek restaurant “1 star” because you don’t like Greek food… THEN DON’T GO TO A GREEK RESTAURANT!!!!)

And my personal favorite:

Steve Cooper: 1 star– “Not Happy with Insufficient Shipping: wretched, pointless shipping with zero protection, a thin sheet of tissue-thin plastic envelope is all the wrapping, book has creases throughout the entire fragile softcover book, front cover to back cover, up and down every page. (Who rates a book “1 star” because it was damaged in shipping?… Steve Cooper, that’s who! You can’t even make that up.)

Funny stuff.

Lol, luckily my book has only good reviews. But mine only has 7 ha ha.

  2. I see reviews like that third one all the time: “poorly shipped” or “arrived too late.” My favorites are the ones like, “would never buy from this seller again!”, attached to listings on the general Amazon site, but obviously referring to a third-party (“z-shop”?) seller…who they never bother to mention by name! So it’s not only useless as a review, it also fails as a “bad seller” warning.

Sometimes I have to just look on the bright side and figure, “At least this person is trying to read books.”

It just occurred to me I never left a review for your book. Guess I should rectify that. Don’t worry, it’ll be positive. There were no dents or creases.

The drawings do not move at all. Much worse than Pixar. I gave it a second star anyway, because this is the 562nd anniversary of the printed book and I’m excited.
