MAD Blog Woes

August 13th, 2013 | Posted in General

Just a boring update on the woes of Tom’s MAD Blog as I attempt to simply move it to another host. I gave up for the time being, so posting will resume on the old host until I can get this figured out.

It’s a long story, but the short version is I moved the website to a new host a few years ago in an effort to take part of an initiative by a cartooning group. Because of the difference in server environments, the entire site had to be recoded from PHP to ASPX. Now said initiative is going to close up, and I am going to be ousted from my server. Recoding back to PHP so I can resume service on my original host is proving to be problematic at best. Worse, an attempt to just move the website to a all-new host that does ASP hosting as well as PHP is also not working.

I’m not sure what to do about all this. Likely I’ll have to spend a lot of money I can’t afford to spend on fixing what was working wonderfully well before I decided to take part in that joint cartooning project. Frustration ensuing.

Cartooning would be fun if you didn’t have to do PR, sales, accounting, shipping, and (worst of all) website programming. Blecch!
