NCS Foundation Sponsors Kenosha Festival

June 28th, 2012 | Posted in General

The National Cartoonists Society Foundation is the charitable arm of the National Cartoonists Society. It officially formed in 2005 from it’s predecessor, the Milt Gross Fund, and several bequests from various cartoonists including David Pascal, Herblock and Toni Mendez, as well as continuing donations and bequests from NCS members, other foundations and supporters. Today the NCSF continues the charitable and educational works the NCS has been well known for, including the Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship.

Most recently, the NCSF has partnered with the The Kenosha Festival of Cartooning to sponsor their event in September. As a result, the Festival will be adding a silent auction of original comic art by NCS members, the proceeds of which will be given to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s Kenosha Clinic and Margaret Ann’s Place an organization providing support, education, and awareness for children and their families who are grieving a death.

The Foundation quietly does a lot of thins kind of thing, and frankly they need more credit for such. Visit their website and check out the details on their efforts.

Hi Tom … I live south of Milwaukee, meaning Kenosha is just a hop, skip and a jump away, so I’ll be attending the festival in September. Having recently discovered Tall Tale Radio, I learned about this wonderful event in Tom Racine’s conversation with the organizer, Anne Hambrock. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about last year’s festival and your presentation on your visit with our troops in the middle east. (Thank you for that, by the way!) Among everything else, I look forward to the silent auction – which is going to a very good cause – and hopefully a winning bid on a Tom Richmond original!

Alan- Thanks. Last year was fun. I am going to try and make it there this year also, but just as a fan. I will have a piece in the auction.
