All Book Orders Shipped!

October 17th, 2011 | Posted in News

It took a solid week, but all orders for my book, The Mad Art of Caricature! (at least those placed through today at about 3:00 pm), have shipped. If you pre-ordered or ordered a copy, it is either already delivered or on the way!

For those who ordered the book with the “original sketch from the book” option, a handful will find a note in the package saying to expect their original art to come separately. This is because a handful of the sketches were too big to fit in the package with the book without being folded. Those are being shipped in a separate tube, and all those will be going out tomorrow.

Thanks again to all those who have ordered a copy. I’ve been getting quite a few emails from people who have gotten their books delivered, and everybody seems happy with their purchase. I am going to be adding a “testimonial” section to the order page shortly, so if you have praise for the book send it my way and I will include it on the order page.

Came home from a long day at work, and found my book waiting on me! Yay! It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to read it and practice along! Thanks so much!!

  2. Dan Lietha says:

Got my copy today! It is AWESOME. The best caricature instruction book I’ve seen hands down. And I’ve seen quite a few. Thanks Tom for your hard work both in producing this book and then shipping it. Well done!

  3. Richard Gough says:

Fantastic! Got the book yesterday in Blighty, with the lovely Audrey Hepburn. Sooo pleased. Thank you Tom.

  4. nunz says:

Got mine yesterday, it looks great (as do the original sketch and Alfred)! I can’t wait to dive in. Congratulations on a job well done!!

  5. C. McIntosh says:

I received my copy yesterday, Oh HAPPY DAYS!!!!!!!!!! Tom, it was well worth the wait. The colors look GREAT!!!!

  6. And should not be first pre-orders and then the orders?

    • Tom says:

??? I don’t understand how you got anything different out of what I wrote either here or in past posts. All the orders were shipped in the order in which they were placed, starting with the first pre-orders on July 21st, through to the latest orders from yesterday.

  7. Dave S says:

Got mine yesterday. It is great. Thanks Tom.

  8. Nick Nix says:

Like a bad country music song, yesterday almost made the top ten WORST DAYS EVER list. I lost a days work to the venomous and ever elusive, disappearing file into the abyss demon (i really hate that guy). Needless to say, I was a little despondent, but then, in the midst of my preparations for hari kiri, there it was!! On my desk, next to my newly acquired MAD magazine “The MAD Art of Caricature”.

Great work Tom! I can’t wait to dive in. Well worth the wait.

  9. Mike says:

Received the book today. Excellent, pristine condition. Beautiful print job. Personalized (thank you). Content (a fast fan through) EXCEEDED expectations. Could not be more pleased. Placed it immediately on my bathroom reading rack.

  10. Juan says:

I received my copy!! Is fantastic. This book is a must-have.

    Thanks Tom.

  11. Frank Pryor says:

    Tom,
I knew your book was going to be good, but I am even more impressed than I thought I’d be…it is incredible! It is worth all the time and effort you put in it’s creation and covers every phase of caricature development. It will be THE pre-eminent guide for beginners to professionals for many years to come. Thank you for sharing so much of what you know, it certainly ‘raises the bar’ and makes all of us a little…no, alot better.
I am so glad to have a copy of my own.

  12. Kyle Maloney says:

Is there a wait at all for the next batch?

  13. Jim says:

Got mine in yesterday’s mail. This is really a fantastic book, even better than I had imagined! Think I’ll have to buy another one to work through so I can keep my personalized one looking nice.

    Thanks,
    Jim

  14. Gabriel Yeo says:

    Hi Tom,

I ordered your book from all the way from Singapore. That’s like 9000 miles away.
So am I the furthest away to have bought the book?

    • Tom says:

Possibly. Many copies went to Australia, and one to New Zealand, but Singapore is about as close to the opposite side of the planet as ypu can get (I think). BTW I shipped multiple copies to folks in Singapore.

      • Gabriel Yeo says:

I received the book within a week.
Excellent material! It’s the best caricature book like no other!
Thanks Tom for the wonderful work.

  15. A FANTASTIC book, Tom! A must for anyone who wants to actually hone or improve their ability to visualize and draw caricatures.

  16. David Paccia says:

    Hay (Yamistem Jr.) Tom,

I received the book and it is better than I even imagined! I just plugged it over on David Wasting Paper and my new Facebook page.

    Thanks again for everything,

    David

P.S. I love how you used yourself as a model on pages 54 and 55.

  17. James Kellam says:

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I own 7 caricature books and this is by far the best one. Nothing wrong with the book, but the shipping method leaves much to be desired.
Heh, I went to the mailbox this morning and saw the book with the end of the packaging ripped up. Oh no. When I opened it, it looked like someone may have set on it as the upper 3 inches of the spine was bent. I’ve straightened it out best I could.
Part of me wants to exchange it, the other part of me doesn’t want to let it out of his hands!!!. It’s that good of a book. Maybe I’ll keep it and use it for the
    “dog-eared” working copy. Dunno yet.
I wish all books were written this well.
    James

    • Tom says:

James- so sorry to hear about that. I ship the books in a plastic sleeve inside a heavily padded envelope. I don’t know how much more I can do sgort of wrapping it in bubble wrap and putting it into an oversized box. That would cost as much as the book to ship. The book is insured for the $25 cost… you should have taken the damaged package to the post office and filed a claim.

Glad you like the book, anyway.

  18. Hey Tom,

I just got my copy of the book and I must say it’s really great. I have a lot of books on caricatures and cartooning, and this is among the very best of them. It’s well-written and gets into details I don’t often see in other books of this type. You really need to be commended for putting out such a terrific book.

    Thanks again,

    Mark

  19. Tom, my copy arrived today in perfect condition. Thanks for your obvious attention to detail, not only in the shipping and personalization of each copy, but in the awesome content. It’s easy to tell that it was a tremendous amount of work, but was also a labor of love. Congratulations and thanks again for the great addition to my bookshelf.

  20. Sam Bowers says:

Received my book Friday and I haven’t put it down since. This is absolutely everything I hoped it would be and I can’t wait to add some of your great tips to my middle school art class.

Thanks again for a great book!

  21. Mufeed says:

I got mine yesterday…..This is what they call it a caricature book. Thanks Tom for the hard work.
    It’s a really great book 🙂

  22. Andy Dolphin says:

Received mine today in southern Western Australia. I think it’s fair to call this “the opposite side of the world!”

Arrived in amazing condition. I haven’t had a chance to do more than flick through it yet but the colour and quality are astonishing. Thanks Tom.

  23. Alex Chicot says:

The book arrived last week (so fast ! living in France i expected to wait 4-6 weeks at least) and it’s even better than the sneak peeks would reveal‚Äö√Ѭ∂ So much to learn from it, even non-caricature related, but of basic anatomy or cartooning. Thanks a lot.

  24. jan Neggers says:

Got my copy a few days ago! It ‘s AWESOME. The best caricature instruction book I‚Äö√Ñ√¥ve seen hands down. And I‚Äö√Ñ√¥ve seen quite a few. Thanks Tom ,
    friendly greetings from Belgium,
    jan 🙂
