The Key to Punditland

August 9th, 2010 | Posted in MAD Magazine

I’ve gotten so many e-mails from people asking for help identifying the one or two pundits they can’t figure out in the above panel that I thought I’d just put together a “key” to all of them… so here ya go:

  1. Harringtoon says:

    What no Rush Limbaugh??

  2. Hi Tom, your work is terrific. Doing a mob scene about the pundits is a great idea.
Check out my website. My work in style is not far from yours. Tell me what you
    think. Thanks Bruce

  3. Jerry Moore says:

    Tom,

This was the best article in Mad in many years. However, my favorite, Stephanie Miller was missing.

    Regards,

    Jerry Moore

  4. Harold says:

Thank you so much for this! I just put out a call to my Facebook friends to identify faces here. It didn’t occur to me that you might have a blog! Great work in this piece. Is there some sort of record for “most individually identifiable caricatures in a single MAD magazine panel”?

Harringtoon, Rush shows up on page 49, along with a bunch of other faces not seen in this shot.

    • Dick Spotter says:

That isn’t Limbaugh on pg. 49, it’s Dick Morris. Limbaugh’s not a Fox/CNBC/CNN talking head. All of the Punditland people are.

  5. Harold says:

By the way, is there a code to the hats? Who gets a flower pot, who gets a baby bonnet? Why does Paul Krugman get the biggest, nicest one (or two, since the design on the hat on the next page looks different?)

    • Tom says:

No code. The munchkins in the original film had various hats and flowerpots on their heads, and I just threw in some different looks as well as some curly hair here and there.
